At the Interairport Siemens Building Technologies (SBT) presents a comprehensive portfolio of security solutions. The range is focused on integrated systems, which intelligently combine fire safety, evacuation, access control, video surveillance and alarm management and thereby ideally fulfill the specific process requirements at airports.

The widespread use of video surveillance equipment is increasing the importance of intelligent image analysis and display methods for dealing with the huge volume of images and utilizing them appropriately. SBT offers new solutions, which display real-time information on one monitor about the nature and location of potential threats arising in extensive surroundings. The solution combines input signals from a large number of different cameras and image sensors simultaneously monitoring the various risk zones in airports. By means of an intelligent software platform data can be automatically collected and analyzed and the entire area under surveillance displayed on a single monitor. The system automatically detects specific events defined for the protected zone and fades-in the relevant, precisely targeted images and information. Compared to conventional video surveillance systems, security personnel can assess events reliably in real time and initiate appropriate action immediately. A large number of monitor screens in the control centers are eliminated, while surveillance is more efficient and requires fewer security personnel.

This solution is suitable for comprehensive, pro-active surveillance of important infrastructure facilities, such as those found in airports or seaports, refineries and freight terminals. In contrast to classical video surveillance technology, where the recording is usually analyzed for diagnosis only after an incident has occurred, the solution enables a defined event to be classified and displayed automatically in real time and the object triggering the response to be tracked. This enables security personnel to identify a potential threat at an early stage and to intervene before an incident escalates. The system collects information from different sensors (e.g. from video cameras, access control devices, radar or chemical sensors), assesses it on the basis of stored security rules and displays it in a three-dimensional overview of the site under surveillance. This three-dimensional view helps security personnel to assess the threat represented by moving objects or certain events. Furthermore, detailed information or selective views can be faded-in individually or system settings adjusted in a zone under surveillance, depending on the situation.

The system is based on Microsoft technology featuring standardized interfaces (API) and an open, modular architecture. This facilitates the integration of existing video systems or sensors from other manufacturers, and the system can be adapted or expanded in response to changed conditions without major expenditure.

In addition to video surveillance solutions, SBT offers a portfolio of products and services tailored to the special needs of airports. The focus is on expertise in providing integrated building automation and building security (Total Building Solutions). This approach offers extensive solutions and services for all building automation systems, i.e. products and systems ranging from primary distribution voltage to power socket, energy management systems, room automation systems to control of the HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) systems, fire protection, evacuation, access control, video surveillance and alarm management. Fully networked system domains keep capital expenditure and maintenance costs low and ensure secure, efficient operations.

The integration of multiple disciplines in a building is a trend, which is globally recognized by building owners and building users as additional benefit. Both building management, which typically involves room comfort and energy functions, as well as building security functions (danger management) can be integrated into a comprehensive management system.

Siemens Airports is a coalition of Siemens Groups, successfully combining and integrating its diverse products, services and systems to create first-class airport solutions. The partners in this coalition are the Groups Automation and Drives (A&D), Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S), Siemens Building Technologies (SBT), Power Transmission and Distribution (PTD) and Siemens IT Solutions and Services.
