nCircle Network Security Inc., a provider of agentless security risk and compliance management solutions, announced last week that it has released a new, highly scalable, high speed appliance designed for large enterprises. As companies expand their global IT networks to store, process and manage increasing amounts of critical financial and personal information, their need for up to date risk and compliance assessment also grows.

The changing threat environment necessitates an accurate, high performance solution capable of high speed, continuous enterprise scanning of large global networks. nCircle's new VnE 5100 is the ultimate platform for security risk management in large enterprises with hundreds of thousands of networked assets, ensuring that IT organizations are focused on rapidly identifying and reducing security risk and ensuring compliance at the lowest possible cost.

nCircle is a provider of agentless security risk and compliance management solutions. More than 4,000 enterprises, government agencies and service providers around the world rely on nCircle's proactive security solutions to identify, measure, manage and reduce security risk and automate compliance on their networks. nCircle is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with regional offices throughout the USA and in London, Toronto and Tokyo.

nCircle solutions discover and profile all devices on an organization's global network enabling configuration auditing, vulnerability management, security risk management and file integrity monitoring. nCircle solutions distill the wealth of discovered information into actionable data, analytics and objective metrics that measure risk and compliance and improve the operational effectiveness of security teams, IT administrators, IT management, and auditors in addressing regulatory challenges such as PCI (payment card industry) compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

nCircle's IP360 security risk management solution is delivered on hardened appliances, enabling rapid deployment and providing a low total cost of ownership (TCO). The new VnE 5100 appliance is the central IP360 console for managing network, application, and vulnerability discovery and assessment, and works with nCircle DP3000 scanning appliances to scan networks of virtually any size with unprecedented speed, accuracy and low total cost of ownership.

The highly scalable and high performance VnE 5100 joins the VnE 3100 and VnE 1100 consoles which are designed for medium to large enterprises. The introduction of a next generation, more scalable appliance enables customers to expand their IP360 solution as their needs expand, and with significantly less complexity and cost than competing solutions.

The VnE 5100 is a standard 19" rack-mountable 2U chassis, ensuring easy datacenter installation and low management overhead. Featuring multi-core processors, high speed raid array storage and dual power supplies for high availability, the VnE 5100 incorporates the latest technologies and benefits from nCircle's experience in providing security risk and compliance solutions to over 4,000 customers worldwide.

nCircle's new VnE 5100 appliance provides the fastest, most scalable platform yet for enterprise-wide security risk management, nCircle said. The VnE 5100 enables nCircle customers to continuously and accurately assess their large, distributed networks, promoting risk reduction and improved compliance, it said.

nCircle is committed to meeting or exceeding environmental standards in the manufacture of its products. The new VnE 5100 appliance joins a full family of nCircle appliances in compliance with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) environmental directives. The RoHS directive requires the elimination of certain harmful substances, such as lead and mercury, from electronic equipment, while the WEEE directive is intended to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment through planned recycling.
