Plug-&-Go Appliances Enable VMware Authorized Resellers to End Email Downtime for Their Customers

Tenerosannounced today that the company has joined the VMware® Technology Alliance Partner Program (TAP) as a Select Partner. VMware’s authorized resellers are able to provide simple, effective email continuity via the award-winning Teneros Application Continuity Appliances™. The appliances solve one of the toughest IT challenges that customers face-email outages and the attendant costs to the enterprise. VMware provides TAP program members with tools to develop products that are complementary to VMware virtualization software and help deliver high-value solutions to its joint customers.

“Teneros Application Continuity Appliances effectively leverage VMware virtualization to solve email downtime, enabling customer’s high availability and disaster recovery of Microsoft Exchange®,” said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliances programs at VMware. “We are pleased that Teneros is helping to deliver added value to customers with innovative technology combined with the significant business benefits of VMware virtualization, including lower capital and operating expenses, business continuity, strengthened security and reduced energy consumption."

“Companies today are virtualizing Microsoft Exchange servers using VMware’s technology to optimize computing resources and save power,” said Andrea Skov, vice president of marketing at Teneros. “This alliance provides an excellent opportunity for VMware resellers to effectively address one of their customers’ most pressing IT challenges-email system outages resulting from either technology failure or routine server maintenance.”

Teneros appliances are designed to meet the email continuity demands of today’s businesses. The plug-&-go™ appliances protect essential communications by assuring 24X7, ongoing email operation and access to valuable email data, calendar information, and email attachments that power business operations worldwide. Whenever an Exchange server requires regularly planned maintenance downtime, experiences an outage, or when an entire site goes off line, Teneros appliances take over email operation from the downed Exchange server or site. This process is transparent to end-users. Client software (Outlook, Outlook Web Access, etc.) and access devices (laptop computers, desktop computers, mobile devices) continue to operate normally with complete email access and functionality maintained.

Miles & Stockbridge, a successful Baltimore, Md. law firm has embraced both virtualization and the Teneros email continuity solutions. “We bought both the local high availability and remote disaster recovery appliances. We have the Teneros total email continuity solution which was a snap to install and is compatible with our existing virtualized Exchange environment. Believe me, the products just plain work. Support, which is key to me, has been the best. These guys know what they are doing,” said Ken Adams, chief information officer, Miles & Stockbridge.

Teneros Application Continuity Appliances for high availability and disaster recovery of Microsoft Exchange deliver 99.999% email system uptime utilizing Instant-On™ failover technology. Teneros appliances can be deployed in about 20 minutes and are remotely monitored, maintained, and updated from the Teneros Network Operations Center so no additional management or maintenance burden is imposed on the busy in-house IT team. The appliances use transactional integrity validation™, Teneros’ proprietary, real-time data protection and corruption prevention technology, to prevent replication of corrupt Exchange data to Teneros appliances.

Teneros appliances incorporate VMware’s virtualization technology to facilitate their high-value remote support, upgrade, and monitoring performed by Teneros’ Network Operations Center. As a result of including VMware technologies, Teneros can deliver the requisite levels of email reliability demanded by successful corporations today.

“Virtualization offers a number of important benefits, including lower power consumption, reduced cooling costs and more efficient use of hardware,” said Michael Osterman, president of Osterman Research, Inc. “But, downtime resulting from normal maintenance or hardware failures remain problems even in a virtualized environment. The use of Teneros’ continuity appliances, which incorporate VMware technology, provides the best of both worlds-more efficiency in running Exchange and extremely high availability.”
