A regional grid infrastructure with a combined computational capacity in excess of 12 Teraflops, SURAgrid is a program of the Southeastern Universities Research Association.
Now comprising more than 30 participating organizations, SURAgrid has evolved into a significant community, using shared computing resources to support research and education needs in the southeast of the U.S., with a strong focus on coastal and oceanic modeling and prediction.
SURAgrid is closely aligned with the SURA Coastal Ocean Observing and Prediction (SCOOP) program, which provides community-wide information services and technologies that advance the sciences of prediction and hazard planning for coastal populations in the U.S.
SURAgrid resources are currently supporting a variety of SCOOP component applications within the evolving Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), including: Storm-Surge Modeling with ADCIRC; Wave Modeling with Wave Watch 3; and the CH3D Storm Surge Monitoring System with a Virtual Grid Appliance.
SURAgrid also supports applications in other fields, such as CI-enabled bioinformatics and biomedical research and the development of grid-enabled teaching environments. Adding to the SURAgrid pool
