Acronis True Image for Microsoft Small Business Server

Data protection company Acronis this week announced software that backs up Microsoft Windows Small Business Server.

Called Acronis True Image for Microsoft Small Business Server, the software lets IT managers in small and midsize businesses back up and restore physical and virtual servers.

Residing on the host computer, the software uses the Acronis Virtual Live Data Format to separate the contents of the hard disk from the file format and platform. Acronis True Image creates an image that is transportable among machines.

The software will be bundled with Acronis Universal Restore, software that lets users restore a server image to different hardware. Also included in the package is a year of priority maintenance and support, and 24/7 telephone support.

Acronis is aiming the software at small businesses that may not have dedicated IT resources.

The company also has software for backing up Microsoft SQL Server and Windows and Linux servers.

Acronis was founded in 2002 by Serguei Beloussov and Jack Zubarev, both now with virtualization company Parallels, which was acquired by SW-Soft. The company has raised $11 million in funding from Insight Venture Partners.

Acronis True Image for Microsoft Small Business Server is currently available starting at $499 per server.
