Biography

Jon William Toigo is a 25-year IT veteran and the author of 15 books, including four covering disaster recovery planning. His latest title on the subject, Disaster Recovery Planning: Preparing for the Unthinkable (Prentice Hall PTR: 2003), is the third edition of a book that has come to be widely regarded as the bible of disaster recovery planning and business continuity.

As an IT manager, system integrator and consultant, Toigo has developed over 60 disaster recovery plans for commercial, governmental and not-for-profit organizations. He has also participated in the execution of several plans in the wake of hurricanes, earthquakes, facility interruptions and terrorist attacks.

He is the CEO of Toigo Partners International, an international IT research & analysis and consulting organization, and founder of the Data Management Institute, which offers a training and certification program on data protection and data management. His reputation for vendor agnosticism and consumer advocacy has earned him a loyal clientele among both Fortune 500 and small-to-medium-sized businesses. A prolific writer, Toigo has published several thousand articles about information technology and disaster recovery/business continuity in the technology trade press. His seven columns, published on line and in print magazines around the world, are read by over 500,000 readers per month.
