A new radar planned for Fort Riley will make a dramatic difference for air traffic controllers at Salina Municipal Airport, control tower manager Bruce Boyle said.

Airport Manager Tim Rogers said the radar, that will cost in excess of $15 million, is tentatively set to be commissioned in October.

“Just a year from now, we’ll have better radar coverage,” Rogers told the Salina Airport Authority board at a meeting Thursday morning.
