Crane Wireless Monitoring Solutions (WMS), a provider of wireless sensor networks, announced that it has received their first order from DRS C3 Systems, a division of DRS Technologies to supply its MicroObserver Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) system as part of a comprehensive border security solution.
According to the company, the MicroObserver UGS solution features a wirelessly networked communication system designed for non-line-of-sight conditions, giving it the ability to monitor non-contiguous sensor areas for both force protection and border security applications.
The combination of advanced communications, a long mission life and an easy-to-use installation make the MicroObserver system well suited for covert deployments in rugged conditions. With an integrated tracker specifically designed to minimize false alarms, the MicroObserver sensor network detects, classifies and tracks personnel and vehicles, providing advanced threat tracking capabilities to the DRS Distant Sentry surveillance system.
"We are very excited about this opportunity," said Charlie Stuewe, Vice President and General Manager for Crane WMS. "The advanced features of the MicroObserver system offer flexibility for deployment in a variety of terrains, seamlessly integrating with existing surveillance systems like those of DRS." |
