Scanning innovator Scan Conversion Services (SCS) has expanded into Queensland in a partnership with successful Brisbane-based scanning firm Data Image Group, which will be known as Scan Conversion Services Queensland from today.

The newly formed company will help Queensland companies tackle the ever growing mountain of paperwork associated with accounts payable, document management and regulatory compliance, while reducing their customers’ carbon footprint by reducing paper storage.

Scan Conversion Services Queensland Director Mr. Duncan Lord said that SCS “is elevating our company on the technology and software capability side”.

“The opportunities are huge and include any large organisation that deals with a lot of paperwork," Mr Lord said.  "Our objective is to reduce operating cost and risk for our customers. We help secure their intellectual property and protect against misfiling and loss of information, which can be either accidental or malicious.”

Mr. Lord said that scanning is a highly specialised field.

“A lot of companies scan and collect data - but it’s what you do with the data to make it a more effective knowledge management tool that counts,” he said.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on being the leading scanning bureau in Brisbane and we have dedicated ourselves to a full function specifically for scanning. Over the years we’ve adapted and come up with more efficient ways of managing data from scanned images.  Now we’ve taken the next step with SCS to create more automation and improve data validation. This allows us to offer the specialised services required for accounts payable processing."

SCS Managing Director Richard Bates says there are several global trends that are driving demand for scanning.

“From reducing the number of filing cabinets needed, through to IP protection and new regulations for document access, SCS Queensland is looking at strong growth,” Mr. Bates said.  “We have already gone from one to two shifts and are bursting at the seams. Now the team is looking at moving to new premises to accommodate the growth.”

Background

Scan Conversion Services Queensland Director Duncan Lord has been involved in scanning from the earliest days of the industry in the mid-90s.  After setting up the scanning division of a company that was eventually bought out by one of the country’s largest document storage firms, Ausdoc, he was able to buy back the scanning division in 2001, in a partnership with Graham Dane. He is now a co-director of SCS Queensland with Mr Dane and Bernard Sauvage
