BakBone Software® (PinkSheets:BKBO), announced today that Jeremy Lawrence, director of Information Technology at The Mind Research Network (MRN), a BakBone NetVault®: Backup customer, will present on peace-of-mind data protection and data management at Storage Networking World next week in Dallas, Texas.

With more than 50 long-term neuroimaging studies in progress, MRN creates massive amounts of research data, primarily generated from specialized imaging machines. Studies range from two to eight years of raw and analyzed data that is stored across Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems. The research at MRN is very expensive and time intensive to create, and patient populations can be extremely difficult to reproduce. A gigabyte of data acquired by a scientist triples in size after being processed and analyzed. Previously, each research unit was responsible for managing its own data, and despite the high value of this data, there was no backup plan. Now, with BakBone's NetVault: Backup, MRN is able to centrally manage its data, minimizing administrative time and giving Mr. Lawrence and his IT staff peace of mind.

Lawrence manages a major network upgrade and construction of a new data center to house MRN's computing assets. He and his IT staff are responsible for managing and ensuring the smooth operation of approximately 200 computers and 60 terabytes of networked storage.
