A leading bank in Thailand has selected Datacraft, the region's leading IT solutions and services company, to plan and project manage the migration of its core data centre and backup facilities to its two separate new premises.

The data centre will also be upgraded to boost its computing performance and systems resilience to assure 24x7x365 business continuity and disaster recovery for the bank's business critical applications.

The 12-month, complex data centre relocation exercise entails the relocation of the bank's main data centre to its new headquarter in Bangkok, as well as the consolidation of the two existing backupfacilities into a single state-of-the-art backup centre located at the outskirts of Bangkok. Working closely with the bank, Datacraft was tasked to consult, plan, execute and project manage the entire migration process to ensure its smooth and timely delivery with minimal risk and impact to the bank's business operations.

'The migration exercise is really demanding as it involves relocating both the backup systems and the main data centre to two different locations, whilst maintaining total security and stability of the system throughout,' said Sutas Kongdumrongkiat, Datacraft's General Manager for Thailand. 'However, given our proven track record in and intimate knowledge of the Financial Services industry, we were able to bring together a dedicated team of highly experienced IT engineers and consultants from our regional resources to manage the entire migration process. This is why the bank could entrust us with the project.'

According to the bank's IT Manager, the knowledge and professionalism of the Datacraft team has ensured the success of the project, which was implemented smoothly and in a timely manner according to management expectations. The project risks were also very well managed due to the vast amount of time spent on planning and communications throughout the span of the project.

As the bank diversifies its services to become more effective, other fundamental changes are occurring in the industry. The bank recognises the need for its network infrastructure to be capable of meeting the increased demands placed upon it with greater performance, resilience and security.

With the state-of-the-art data centre facilities, the bank is assured of round-the-clock business continuity and disaster recovery in the event of a system downtime. The bank can also use their computing resources in the most efficient and cost-effective way, but without compromising performance, reliability or security.

As a leading bank in Thailand, this means that it can be far more agile to changing customer and market demands and introduce new products and services quickly to maintain a competitive advantage,' added Sutas.
