Main Issues in 2005
One of the main issues related to the wireless Internet network unbundling in the Korean market, is providing the menus of independent portal services on the first page of portable Internet service provided by mobile carriers, as well as to improve the hotkey connection.

Even though the unbundling of wireless internet network started already in 2001 in Korea, mobile carriers have been reluctant to network unbundling due to the reduced Data ARPU generated from their own wireless portal service.

Device Issues
Wireless Internet network unbundling enables the users to connect to any wireless portal service they want by using the start menu of Internet portal provided by the mobile carriers. However, different platform structure by each mobile carrier is going to trigger difficulties in responding to various problems and interlocking download server or settlement system has not been done sufficiently. Mobile carriers in Korea are taking a lukewarm attitude toward disclosing information on platform interlock. In this situation, it is required to maximize the effect of network unbundling by increasing compatibility of WIPI, the mobile standard platform.
