Multi-purpose, Four-port Adapter Ideal for Network Server Applications

Performance Technologies , a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced the release of its newest PCI Express-based synchronous serial card, the PCE335. The high-reliability, intelligent WAN adapter can be utilized in a wide range of applications for aerospace and defense, data centers, and telecommunications.

The PCE335 Intelligent Synchronous Serial WAN Communications Adapter is ideally suited for use within radar servers, frame relay access systems, high- speed modems, and other data and communication network devices. The four-port (2Mbps bi-directional), low profile form factor WAN adapter features a 266MHz Motorola MPC8270 PowerQUICC(TM) II processor that can simultaneously transmit a sustained 8Mbps maximum line speed.

This new offering from Performance Technologies provides developers of data and communication networks a fully compatible and programmable subsystem that is supported by the company's suite of NexusWare(R) WAN protocols (X.25, Frame Relay, HDLC, Radar Receiver/SBSI, Asynchronous Data Transfer, TADIL-B) that are compatible with operating systems including Linux(R), Windows(R), or Solaris(TM). The adapter can be easily configured to be used in both low profile and full height PCI Express-based servers.

The PCE335 provides current Performance Technologies' customers who utilize the company's PCI-based serial products a migration path to new PCI Express-based servers entering the market. "Developers and network designers will be looking for solutions that allow them to easily migrate their applications to these newer servers. Performance Technologies is able to provide OEMs and network integrators a flexible and open-ended solution for these PCI Express-based servers with our PCE335 and NexusWare WAN software," said Steven Wigent, access product manager for Performance Technologies.

Additionally, Performance Technologies offers the PCE385, a quad T1/E1/J1 PCI Express telecom adapter that is also compatible with PCI Express architecture.

The PCE335 is available in either RS-422 or RS-232 configurations. Beta versions are available now, with general availability for the product slated for fourth quarter 2007.
