Major deployment for 2008 Beijing Olympics

(National Association of Broadcasters Show 2008) - Vobile, a leading provider of video content identification and management products and services, today announced the release of VideoDNATM Live, a solution specifically designed for live broadcast events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The VideoDNA Live service offers broadcasters and rights holders real-time digital fingerprinting, fully automated identification, tracking and monetization of live media content on the Web. This service allows content owners, broadcasters and content distributors to identify and track unauthorized uploads of broadcast content within minutes of the event taking place.

"Due to the widespread increase of Internet video distribution platforms, the 2008 Beijing Olympic will be the first digital Olympic Games in history. Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHB's) are facing new challenges to protect their investments, which require new technical solutions for effective rights management," said a spokesperson for CCTV.com, the official Internet and mobile phone Rights Holding Broadcaster of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. "We are very pleased with the results of our pilot project completed with Vobile's VideoDNA Live. The full-scale deployment of VideoDNA Live will help stop illegal use of our live broadcast content and protect our investment and our distribution partners' commercial interest."

Broadcasters and content owners face an ongoing challenge in protecting the integrity and quality of their content, which they spend billions of dollars to produce. Scans of video clips on video-sharing websites routinely report illegal or unauthorized uploads and downloads of copyrighted video content. Since VideoDNA is finely granular and highly scalable, it can precisely identify video even in small segments, making it possible not only to identify the video that is being played but also to track which part of the video is being played. The ability to track video usage automatically and precisely provides rights holders with valuable data regarding video content consumption and opens up potential revenue channels for targeted marketing and advertising based on viewer trends.

"Vobile VideoDNA Live offers broadcasters and rights holders the ability to easily identify, track and protect content with confidence, preventing the costly damage of online piracy," said Yangbin Wang, founder and CEO of Vobile. "We are changing the landscape of content identification by fingerprinting broadcast content in real-time, enabling entertainment and Internet companies to collaborate in protecting valuable video assets while providing better consumer experience by assuring that the content they view is the high quality, legitimate version of the video."
