BBK, an international business advisory firm providing financial, strategic and operations management services to its clients worldwide, has announced the hiring of Pierre Benoit as Managing Director in New York and 10 other new employees. The new hires include Steven Abbott and Richard Leal as Senior Directors in Southfield; Ulrich Koch as Director of BBK Ratings in Frankfurt; James Tyson as Director in Southfield; Mark Bateman, James Downes, Payman Mahjoory and James Street as managers in Southfield; and Steven Sadowski as an Associate in Southfield.

Benoit, a specialist in corporate finance, joins the firm as a Managing Director with extensive expertise in the retail, real estate and natural resource industries. He was most recently the executive vice president of a boutique financial advisory firm and has spent the last 30 years of his professional career as a senior corporate executive, an advisor to corporations experiencing financial or operational challenges, or as a financial and strategic advisor to senior secured creditors and noteholders.

“With his experience and deep knowledge in restructuring and bankruptcy, Pierre will be a tremendous asset to BBK and instrumental in broadening our client base,” said William A. Wexler, Managing Director and Corporate Advisory Group Lead.

Joining BBK as a Senior Director in the Operations Advisory Group, Abbott previously owned and operated 3P Enterprise LLC, a consulting firm focused on small business start-ups. Prior to 3P, he had a long, successful career with General Motors, holding global positions such as Director of Asia Pacific Supply Operations in Melbourne, Australia, Director of PMO Global Volume Planning, manager of supplier capacity management for Adam Opel AG in Frankfurt, Germany, and manager of North American Manufacturing Planning.

Leal also joins BBK’s operations group as a Senior Director, with more than 35 years of operations management experience. He was most recently Vice President of International Operations at Harbour Consulting, where his achievements included improving productivity by 10 percent at a client’s German plant; due diligence for acquisition of a French-German plant; and, developing plans for the growth of a client’s operations in China and Asia Pacific.

As Director of BBK Ratings in BBK’s Frankfurt office, Koch will be working with BBK Ratings’ Europe model, the firm’s proprietary, statistically proven, web-based model that assigns the risk of supplier financial distress, allowing clients to proactively monitor the health of their supply bases and protect their production. Koch previously was Head of the Sales Department for Prof. Dr. Schneck Rating GmbH, where most of his clients were German-based automotive OEM and Tier One suppliers.

As a Director at BBK, Tyson specializes in advising organizations with international operations on matters of corporate strategy, operational efficiency, project management, brand development and risk management. He most recently was Managing Principal at Atlantic Ridge Consulting and worked with clients in Belgium, France, Spain and Bulgaria on matters as varied as acquisition due diligence and product re-sourcing to Eastern Europe.

Bateman joins BBK as a manager in the Operations Advisory Group with more than 13 years of operations management experience with a proven ability to bring "order to chaos" within both troubled suppliers and turnaround practices. He started his career with General Motors and has held positions ranging from Quality Engineer, General Foreman, Materials Management and Executive Management both within and supporting OEM automotive environments.

With more than 23 years of experience, specializing in automotive, consumer goods, and retail, Downes joins BBK as a manager. He most recently was the CEO of imX Solutions, Inc., a Michigan based technology start-up company focused on establishing a more secure payment mechanism for Internet shopping, including customers such as Ford, Borders Books, Callaway Golf, the Ultimate Shopping Network and the San Diego Chargers.

Mahjoory is a manager and corporate finance specialist at BBK and brings his demonstrated success in financial cost recovery, buy/lease analysis, global consolidation, continuous engineering product improvement and manufacturing product launches. Prior to BBK, he was the performance planning and analysis manager at Genesee & Wyoming, Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida, a leading owner and operator of short line and freight line railroads in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Bolivia.
