Numerex to Provide Network, Technology and Services to Transition GE Security Analog Customers to Fully Digital Platform in Advance of FCC Analog Sunset Deadline
Numerex Corp. , a leader in M2M (machine-to-machine) wireless communication solutions, today announced that it will provide the technology, network solutions and expertise to transition GE Security's residential and commercial wireless security customer base from analog connectivity to a fully digital platform in advance of the FCC Analog Sunset deadline of February 2008. The FCC ruling allows carriers to discontinue analog wireless service after the February deadline, at which time home and business security systems connected via AMPS (Analog Mobile Phone Service) cellular technology may be unable to communicate with the central stations that monitor their alarm events.
Powered by SMSXpress(TM), Numerex's proven wireless network technology; GE Security will immediately begin to migrate its customers to GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) service which provides a continuous digital connection to the central station in the event of a line cut or any other interruption of land-line telephone service.
"Having already transitioned a wide variety of product lines from older analog wireless technologies to the next generation of digital solutions, Numerex is the 'perfect partner' for managing the analog-to-digital migration process," said Stratton Nicolaides, CEO of Numerex. "We are pleased to extend our long and valued relationship with GE to help move their products and customers to proven, reliable, and secure digital solutions. We are dedicated to providing solutions that facilitate a rapid and seamless migration to digital technologies, which GE Security's residential and commercial customers require to stay connected and protected through February 2008 and beyond."
Key components of the digital platform are Numerex's SMSXpress(TM) wireless network services for reliable, real-time machine-to-machine message delivery. Speedy upgrade to digital services is achieved through plug-and-play hardware that is fully integrated with GE Security's NetworX alarm panels. Key benefits include simple installation and real-time activation. The migration process is transparent to customers, taking place at the device level and requiring no changes in the customer's existing security service. Comprehensive, escalated support for GE dealers is also provided by Numerex to ensure a swift and, successful transition.
"Conversion to an all digital platform allows us to continue to provide advanced, reliable security solutions while ensuring our customers' connectivity in advance of the Analog Sunset deadline," said Jim Paulson, Global Marketing Leader of GE Security. "With a track record of successful engagements and the experience and advanced digital network solutions necessary, Numerex is the right choice to provide the digital solutions to help migrate our customers from analog to digital in a way that is as non-intrusive as possible for our dealers and customers."
