IDC’s Fourth Annual Security Forum to Address Information Access Threats - Messaging Security, Network Management, and Retention Systems

For today’s organization, information asset threats are occurring more frequently - both internally and externally. As employees become more mobile, messaging moves beyond email, and regulatory mandates continue to increase, companies are facing significant costs as they implement multiple layers of defense. However, a security breach is damaging to both the brand and the bottom line, and best-in-class companies understand that it is imperative to design a resilient corporate security policy.

IDC’s fourth annual Security Forum, scheduled on September 19, 2007 at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York, NY, will address this need and provide insight into how organizations can defend against information access threats. The agenda will cover key issues such as: proactive enterprise security approaches; preventing attacks on systems, networks, and data; phishing; messaging security solutions; creating resilient email environments; controlling data leakage; and more.

“Protecting information assets has become even more critical to organizations due to regulatory requirements and customer expectations,” says Unum’s Chief Information Security Officer Lynda Fleury and Security Forum featured speaker. “Security cannot be assured by the installation of one particular solution, technology, or operating policy. Rather, it is a combination of multiple different controls, the aggregate of which are commensurate with a company's particular risk exposure that should be employed. In order to adequately protect an organization's sensitive resources, multiple layers of defense must be employed.”

The complete speaker line-up includes security practitioners and thought leaders, including:

- George Adams, CEO, SSH Communications Security

- Dr. Edward G. Amoroso, Senior Vice President, Chief Security Officer, AT&T Services, Inc.

- Michael Barrett, CISO, PayPal

- Bob Bragdon, Publisher, CSO Magazine

- Julie Donahue, VP, Security and Privacy Service, IBM Global Technology Services

- Lynda Fleury, CISO, Unum

- Tim Mathews, Director, Risk Management and Corporate Security, ETS

- Brian Shea, Senior Vice President, Bank of America

- Craig Smelser, VP, Storage and Security Development, IBM Software Group, Tivoli

- Chris Whitener, GM, Atalla Security Products and Leader, Enterprise Storage and Servers Security Strategy, HP

Sponsors and Partners of the Security Forum include: HP, IBM, SSH Communications Security, CSO Magazine, ECM Connection, Security Magazine and the Contingency Planning Exchange.
