In the wake of Hurricane Katrina the Red Cross has created a new website in order to help victims of natural disasters let their loved ones know they're okay.
People can also go on the site to search for family and friends who have been in a disaster to see how they're doing in case all other methods of communication are no longer working.
"Obviously in the aftermath of a significant event like a tornado, or like a hurricane, it may be three to five days before cell phone towers are back up" said Tim Wyckoff, of the American Red Cross.
