Additional dates set for Peninsula CERT Training
The Monterey Peninsula CERT Training quarterly training was held March 17. Other training dates are June 23, Sept. 22 and Nov. 17.
CERT, Community Emergency Response Team, is a national training program that provides community members with disaster-related knowledge needed to be self-sufficient and support others until help can arrive

Canine-firefighter search teams graduate March 10
A graduation ceremony was held March 10 to honor firefighters from Carmel Valley, Salinas and Seaside Fire Departments who trained and then were teamed with canines at Sundowner Kennels in Gilroy.
Dogs were recruited from shelters and breed rescue groups and trained by the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. Each team costs $10,000 and a total of $50,000 is needed to cover the cost of the five Central Coast teams.
