Nater Associates, Ltd is a company that applies intelligence to the application of security methodology in the workplace and in other commercial settings as it relates to Workplace Security, Workplace Violence Prevention and Security Awareness. Nater Associates collaborates with other Security Professionals to bring you the client superior security services.

Very simply, what we do at Nater Associates is work with small to midsize companies to assess you workplace security needs, help structure your security policy and programs to address your needs, train your employees in Workplace Security, Workplace Violence Prevention and Threat Assessment and provide advice during and following an incident in a collaborative environment – the end result being a more intelligent, effective and efficient approach at implementing contemporary Workplace Violence Prevention, Protective Security Measures and Security Awareness for individuals, businesses and organizations.

Mission Statement

Our mission at Nater Associates is to work with clients to provide an evaluation of their security needs and vulnerabilities in order to provide a critical analysis of a business` Workplace Security & Workplace Violence Prevention Policies and Programs.

(A) We will assess the client`s security plan to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, conduct Risk and Threat Assessments and Employee Surveys to measure any adverse conditions that may contribute to Workplace Violence.

(B) We will collaborate with the client`s leadership team to help implement a workplace security strategy, policy, plans & programs, & conduct security awareness training to help prevent the risk of violence and minimize the impact it may have on the threat of litigation through an informed workforce.

(C) We will help train the client`s leadership team in Threat Assessment Procedures to manage the hostile environment by recognizing risks, recommending risk abatement measures as proactive measure and offering consulting support in cases of serious injury litigation.

In short, Nater Associates offers clients these unique services to help them manage their own workplace security needs through an informed workforce. We accomplish our objectives with our clients through a philosophy based on Solid Situational experiences and expertise gained as a former United States Postal Inspector and expert in workplace violence prevention strategy.

Workplace Violence Prevention

Our Strategy

  • Enable clients to conduct their own threat assessments to defuse typical workplace conflicts before escalation into physical confrontations (murder/suicide/assaults/death threats).
  • Enable the client to conduct internal threat assessments (investigations) during the hiring, resolution & termination processes. 
  • Provide the client expertise in the management of the pre and post incident phases by providing situational scenario role playing exercises to measure leader effectiveness.
  • Provide outsource security consulting services during the implementation of the client`s new security strategy, policy and program. 
  • Offer client critical vulnerability threat assessments of all reported workplace violence & security incidents to evaluate impact on resources, morale, performance, production, injury compensation costs and other related business negatives. 
  • Provide a comprehensive assessment of a business` practices to help identify factors which have an adverse impact on the workplace security plan.
  • Create security awareness training opportunities to inform the workforce on their mutual responsibilities to protect the workplace and to familiarize them on Homeland Security Protective Measures and Threat Conditions in the event of a Terrorist Threat or Strike.
  • Work with the client`s human resource, labor relations, safety and security managers to effectively implement their Workplace Security and Workplace Violence Prevention Policy, Programs and Training.

Felix P. Nater, President of Nater Associates, Ltd.

Felix (Phil) Nater has more than 30 years of investigative, managerial and security experience as a United States Postal Inspector and Postal Police Officer, with 8 of those years devoted to Workplace Violence Interdiction. Mr. Nater has spent the last three years growing his business. Part of Mr. Nater`s training and experiences includes diversified leadership and managerial experience emanating from a variety of program management positions and his service as a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserves, now retired. He has held office and title in numerous organizations including the Association of the United States Army, Hispanic Association of Police Command Officers, and many other organizations. Mr. Nater is also a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants, Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety.

Accomplishments:
  • Retired United States Postal Inspector with approximately 30 years of criminal, civil & security investigative experience & Crime Prevention Methodology.
  • Last 8 years specialized in Workplace Violence Interdiction; conducted several hundred Threat Assessments and Criminal Investigations, served as a member a Threat and Crisis Management Team recommending prevention and programs development initiatives to the United States Postal Service.
  • Participated in numerous major criminal investigations, served as Task Force Leader and program manager for Public Information, Training & Recruitment and Threat Management Coordinator.
  • Since incorporating, provided security consulting services to government, corporate, universities & non for profit organizations on workplace violence & and program development and completed a comprehensive Vulnerability Threat Assessment and Security Audit for the Postal Service.
  • Trained in Workplace Violence Prevention, Crisis Negotiation & Mediation Process.
  • Has demonstrated expertise in courtroom testimony and demeanor, testified in numerous federal, state, local criminal and administrative hearings.
  • Developed expertise and skills in presenting Workplace Violence Prevention and Security seminars training thousands employees and students of the Postal Service, corporations, law enforcement agencies and educational institutions.
  • Successfully implemented collaboration strategy in the utilization of Threat and Crisis Management Teams.
  • Effectively implemented a ``Plain Talk–Solid Situational Approach Concept`` to threat management and conflict resolution.
  • Was efficient in working with diverse employee & management groups and labor organizations to assess incidents of workplace violence & develop risk management recommendations.
  • Served as a Threat Management Coordinator for the Queens & Long Island Postal Districts advising Senior Management, Human Relations, Labor Relations and Safety Managers, EO, Medical and EAP Staffs.
  • Developed workplace violence prevention training programs for employees, supervisor, managers and postmasters on Long Island and Queens Postal Districts.
  • Instrumental in developing Leader-Based Scenario training to sustain postal management`s threat assessment and crisis management plans.
