Recent motorcycle crash studies suggest that perhaps half of all motorcycle injuries couldbe reduced or prevented by the use of effective protective clothing. The focus of road safety programs on the most serious and fatal crashes, has tended to divert attention from the potential of clothing to reduce or prevent injuries in a high proportion of crashes. There is a lot of highly specialised and often expensive gear available, but how can a rider tell what is fashion and what is genuinely safety equipment? Liz will speak about the benefits and features of protective clothing. She will illustrate the parts of the body most likely to be injured in a motorcycle crash, and how to select motorcycle clothing that will provide injury protection.
