When the mobile phone was firstly introduced in the market it was so big that it resembled a radio transceiver and it had only one function, voice call. In addition, its service quality was worse than that of a telephone, in terms of tone quality and service region. But in those days, just being able to make a call outside while on the move was revolutionary. Nowadays, mobile phones have become much smaller than before. The phones can be used above the ground, under ground, inside a building, in an island and in addition, the tone quality has reached the same level with the fixed line phones. The use of the mobile phone is not only limited to the voice communication but also is continuously developing into a multifunctional device including such entertainment functions as data communications based on mobile internet, digital camera, MP3, mobile TV and portable game device, financial service functions, as well as navigation and information management. In the future, mobile phones will develop into a device that includes telecommunication based media, entertainment based media and information based media and as such should not be called as a mobile phone anymore but rather as a multifunctional portable device. |
