Biography
Marv began work in the information technology field over 35 years ago. After 15 years in database development and mainframe operations, he began consulting to bridge the gap between data processing and other business units, focusing on business impact analysis and business recovery planning. Marv’s ideas have had a significant impact on the way the Business Continuity industry views corporate crisis management. He has been quoted in Computerworld, Information Week, Service News, Computers in Banking, and Bank Systems and Equipment. A Certified Disaster Recovery Planner, his advice on matters of business continuity is sought by experts in this field, and he is on the Board of Directors of the Contingency Planning Exchange, NYC.

Many of the visionary concepts in the Disaster Recovery industry originated at a planning and research company founded by Marv in 1983. His book, Knowledge at Risk, co-authored with Joseph Levatino, is reputed by many to be the most comprehensive treatment of business continuity concepts in the industry. He received the 2003 IDRA Achievement Award for professional contributions and service towards the general advancement of Contingency Planning.

Marv has been a frequent speaker at contingency planning associations, including SCIP, AQP, Executive Seminars and conventions, Delaware Valley Disaster Recovery Information Exchange Group, Disaster Recovery Institute, Institute of Internal Auditors, Association of Contingency Planners, CPE, New Jersey Business Recovery User Group, NYMAC Top Secret User Group, Information Systems Security Association, Service News Conference, and the International Disaster Recovery Association (IDRA). Articles he has written have appeared in various industry publications, including AQP Journal, Contingency Journal, Contingency Planning & Management, Disaster Recovery Journal, Quality Times and Survive!
