CLEVELAND -Helps Clarify, Resolve Data Governance Challenges Related to Information Security, Privacy and Corporate Compliance
Axentis, a leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management solutions, today announced it has joined the Data Governance Council. The group, which was formed in 2005 by IBM along with dozens of leading corporations, institutions and technology solution providers, is a global effort to develop a ‘blueprint’ of common solutions for challenges that apply to security, privacy, trust and corporate compliance issues.
Data Governance is the process by which companies govern appropriate access to their critical data by measuring operational risk and controlling security exposures. The Data Governance Council is working to redefine the management of data governance policy, the impact of policy on business processes and practices, and the enforcement of policy in IT infrastructure, information management, and organizational behavior. Members of the Council are collaborating on ways to address these issues using IBM and business partner solutions and concepts.
“The Data Governance Council’s objective is to standardize the way companies value and protect sensitive information,” said Steven Adler, chair of the Data Governance Council and program director of IBM Data Governance Solutions. “Axentis is a welcome addition to the Council. Their expertise in assisting companies with the implementation of consistent and scalable governance, risk and compliance programs will be a key capability in meeting our objectives.”
Axentis is leveraging the SaaS model to deliver consistent workflow, reporting, security, and content and learning management. In August, Axentis released its Privacy Management Suite, delivering Global 2000 companies, government entities and educational institutions a complete range of capabilities for managing the privacy issues that directly impact a company’s reputation, consumer confidence, employee trust and protection of intellectual property.
Currently 720,000 users from Global 2000 companies, located in more than 100 countries, trust Axentis with their GRC requirements. Whether tackling Enterprise Risk Management, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, Corporate Code of Conduct, Anti Money Laundering statutes, Operational Risk, or COBIT, Axentis Enterprise is the common platform resource used to automate processes, reduce costs and manage risks.
“The efforts of the Data Governance Council to establish a forum and roadmap for addressing security, privacy, trust and corporate compliance issues provides a critical component to a trusted information supply chain,” said Robert Hoyt, CEO of Axentis. “Utilizing our Privacy Management Suite, we will work closely with the Council to help companies manage their initiative and ensure alignment with the seven elements of an effective compliance program, as defined by United States Sentencing Commission and the Office of Inspector General.”
