Camden, Maine – Penobscot Bay Media LLC has been selected by ESRI, Inc. of Redlands, CA as a primary small business channel to Federal customers of its geographic information system (GIS) software and training products.  The agreement with Penobscot Bay Media authorizes the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) to supply more than 125 ESRI software products and GIS training classes through its General Services Administration Information Technology contract (Schedule 70).

Yahner, USN (Ret) is the President and General Manager of Penobscot Bay Media. “We are very pleased with the agreement and especially ESRI’s support for disabled-veterans,” says Mrs. Yahner. “They gain a solid value-added reseller who knows GIS, we gain an opportunity to grow our business and create good jobs in Maine, and the government gains a reliable supplier for a needed product that also helps them meet their contracting goals. Everyone wins.”  The Veterans Benefit Act of 2003 and subsequent Presidential Executive Order 13360 established the goal of targeting 3% of Federal contracting dollars to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns.

This agreement serendipitously fills a void left by the departure of Northrop Grumman Information Technology (NGIT) Computing Systems Group from the Federal reseller market. “NGIT was the only authorized GSA reseller of ESRI products before that announcement,” notes Michael Hardy, Manager of Spatial Technology Products for Penobscot Bay Media. “We were working on the agreement even before NGIT’s decision, but I think ESRI is very happy right now to have a new VAR ready to step in; even better that we are an SDVO small business and can offer some contracting diversity for Federal buyers.”
