Biography

Fred Corle, President, Spatial Technologies Industry Association, has over thirty years experience resolving complex problems for corporations created by policy decisions, legislation or regulatory actions.

The Spatial Technologies Industry Association, established in 1996, is dedicated to expanding the industry’s presence in the public sector to better address policy issues, legislation, and regulatory actions that limit individual company’s market potential. STIA also supports the industry's business development efforts in the public sector - improving performance of government with GIS technology - and promotes the industry in commercial markets worldwide. Over 100 companies have participated in the association’s activities

His professional experience includes federal government information technology marketing and sales, federal budget and procurement, export control and international trade, and information technology and telecommunications policy.

Prior to joining STIA, Mr. Corle was National Federal Marketing/Sales Director, Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc. He managed Sun's federal government strategic market development efforts for civilian agencies. Mr. Corle served as Sun's representative to the American Electronics Association's (AEA) Government Business Committee; represented Sun on the Computer Systems Policy Project (CSPP) Trade Committee and the CSPP National Information Infrastructure Working Group on Access to Government Data.

Before joining Sun Microsystems, Mr. Corle held senior federal government positions with the Executive office of the President, Office of Management and Budget; the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on the Budget; the White House; and the U.S. Department of the Interior. He was an advisor to Senator Robert J. Dole's 1988 and 1996 Presidential Campaigns.

Mr. Corle has also served as Regional Director, Interand Corporation and Director, Federal Operations; Data point Corporation developing new business opportunities. Mr. Corle served on the faculty of the University of Denver Law School teaching courses on Western water policy. He is a former U.S. Navy Officer whose service includes duty as Assistant Supply Officer on the Guided Missile Cruiser Belknap (CLG-26) during the Vietnam war. Mr. Corle received his BA degree in economics from Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio and attended the University of Denver, receiving his MBA degree in finance in 1973.
