Prince George`s County Fire and Rescue units were called to the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 near Central Avenue in Capital Heights Thursday for the report of a crash involving a tractor-trailer, authorities said.

Units reached the scene just after 11:30 a.m. and found the tractor-trailer, a Toyota Camry and an SUV involved in the collision. There is no word on what caused the crash.

Authorities said 10 people were injured. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment. None of the injuries is considered life-threatening.

A family of six in the SUV - including four children ages 7 to 10 - suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

Three adults were in the Camry, and one of them was airlifted to a trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other two were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. One person was trapped in the car and had to be removed by firefighters.

The 10th injured person was a passenger in a vehicle that wasn`t involved in the crash. The passenger was struck by flying debris.

The Outer Loop was closed for a short time while rescue crews helped the injured.

Hazmat teams were called to the scene to clean up a diesel fuel spill. Prince George`s County Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Brady said about 75 gallons leaked out of the side tanks on the truck.
