Biography

Dr. Covello is Director of the Center for Risk Communication in New York City. Over the past twenty-five years, he has held numerous positions in academia and government, including Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences and Clinical Medicine at Columbia University. Prior to his joining the faculty at Columbia, Dr. Covello was a senior scientist at the White House Council on Environmental Quality in Washington, D.C., a Study Director at the National Research Council / National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., and the Director of the Risk Assessment Program at the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Richard Peters is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Risk Communication. He has over a decade of experience in the field of risk communication. He has taught risk communication at Columbia University, and has provided strategic communication guidance and support for a wide range of clients in the private and public sectors. He received his doctorate in environmental health science from Columbia University, received his Master of Science in chemistry and his MBA from the University of Virginia. Included among the topics and issues he has addressed are nuclear, chemical and biological terrorism.

Mr. Wojtecki is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Risk Communication. He has more than 30 years experience in communications and public affairs practice, including senior government, corporate and consulting positions, with extensive background in planning communications strategies that support business goals. Prior to joining the Center for Risk Communication, he consulted with a major military command on effective communication strategies for addressing workforce issues related to downsizing and reorganization. Mr. Wojtecki has had broad public affairs experience including installation siting, environmental cleanup, accident response, base-community relations and nuclear safety issues.
