Synopsis
The concept of limiting access to a building or facility is a basic security concept. Each year, several hundred million dollars are spent to install high-tech access control systems around the world. Some of this technology is proven and dependable. Some still have long way to go in order to provide the level of protection that their manufacturers say they can. The decision as to which system to go with can be a daunting one best made with the assistance of an experienced security consultant. However, one step that can be taken immediately to enhance overall security is the implementation of an appropriate access protocol followed by the security staff and corporate employees. The adoption of such procedures costs virtually nothing and can make a substantial difference in the security posture in a given location.
