BCMMSM

The Public Domain Business Continuity Maturity Model^SM has been designed to enable businesses to perform a self-evaluation of their business continuity program. This is to be used as an internal diagnostic tool to help businesses determine the maturity of their BC program, and the next steps they should take to continue program evolution. There is no cost associated with this tool, and we encourage businesses to use it freely. The public domain BCMM^SM cannot be sold and is the copyright protected property of Virtual Corporation, Inc.

If you are interested in an objective evaluation, Virtual Corporation consultants, and other individuals that have been trained and licensed by Virtual, are available. For more information on having an assessment performed for you, please contact us at assessment@virtual-corp.net.

If you are interested in becoming a licensed BCMM^SM Assessor, Virtual Corporation holds regularly scheduled training classes. Anyone can attend these classes although it is recommended that you have a minimum of 2 years business continuity experience. Virtual Corporation Announces
Business Continuity Maturity Model^SM Assessment Training

FLANDERS, NJ, May 7, 2004 Virtual Corporation, Inc., a consulting services corporation, announces their upcoming seminar for individuals to become licensed Business Continuity Maturity Model^SM (BCMM^SM) assessors. The 2-day seminar will be held in Toronto, Canada at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre. The cost of the program will be $895 US Dollars, which includes all BCMM^SM courseware and Assessment Toolkit.

This seminar is for business continuity professionals with a minimum of 3 years dedicated business continuity experience. All participants will be expected to possess a significant level of understanding of Business Continuity principles and terminology encompassing Disaster Recovery, Business Recovery, Security Management and Incident Management. This is not a course for general assessment principles. Experience as an internal or external consultant is highly desirable.

In the current business environment with heightened awareness the need to find ways to recover from crisis situations, including natural or man-made threats, Virtual Corporation’s Business Continuity Maturity Model^SM provides a consistent, objective means for evaluating disaster readiness. In addition to business recovery, the model addresses security management, incident management and technology recovery.

Designed for businesses of all sizes, companies can use the public domain model to perform a self-assessment. For a more rigorous assessment, companies can retain an objective third party that has been licensed and trained to perform the more detailed assessment. Data from these assessments will be retained by Virtual Corporation to share as benchmark analyses for the business continuity industry as a whole. Companies performing the evaluation can use their assessment results for investment, insurance, and other financial and risk management decisions. The concept for the BCMM^SM emerged in 1997 when Virtual Corporation’s President, Scott Ream, spoke with several business continuity professionals regarding the need to find a way to objectively benchmark their business continuity management (BCM) programs. Since then, several surveys have been conducted and published describing performance by industry, company size and other demographics. The results supported the need for an objective diagnostic and benchmarking tool. In April 2002, a working team comprised of cross-industry practitioners was formed as the instrument through which experience, consultation, and advice could be harvested. Working team members came from a variety of industries, including telecommunications, manufacturing, energy, and banking.
