Fujitsu Asia and VMware, Inc., today announced a local OEM distribution agreement to offer end-to-end server virtualization solutions - comprising consultation, hardware, software, systems integration and maintenance - across the ASEAN region. This builds on the companies' existing relationship to now offer VMware virtualization in the ASEAN markets, which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Starting today, the local OEM agreement allows Fujitsu Asia to sell VMware virtualization on Fujitsu's Intel-based PRIMERGY line of servers and to provide Level 1 and Level 2 support.

Customers can now purchase VMware Infrastructure 3, VMware's industry-leading datacenter virtualization and management suite, bundled with Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers with full support from Fujitsu. VMware Infrastructure 3 enables automatic load balancing, business continuity and power management and the ability to move a virtual machine across physical machines to minimize service interruption. VMware Infrastructure 3 is also compatible with VMware's desktop virtualization and management solutions.

Designed for Linux and Windows platforms, the PRIMERGY range comprises mission-critical, enterprise-class and entry-level blade, rack and tower servers engineered for optimum performance with low energy consumption and minimal heat dissipation. For example, the PRIMERGY BX620 S4 blade server runs on dual- or quad-core Xeon processors and is designed specifically for energy-efficient, large-scale data centre applications.

In addition, Fujitsu Asia now offers the Resource Coordinator Virtual Server Edition (RCVE), a complementary product to VMware virtualization that further enhances business continuity. Fujitsu's RCVE enables control of both physical and virtualized blade servers via a single management view. This allows an integrated solution of PRIMERGY servers and ETERNUS storage to provide fail over capability to both physical and VMware virtualized servers, providing customers with a highly reliable environment ideal for consolidation.
