Law firm Taylor Wessing have commissioned Avanquest Solutions to provide Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for their Practice Management solution, Aderant, for its 750 lawyers.

After selecting Aderant to enable the firm better management and access of critical client information it became clear that an outage of such an important application would represent severe pain for the business.

The Avanquest Business Continuity solution for Aderant will ensure that the users based at Taylor Wessing offices in Berlin, Brussels, Cambridge, Dubai, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London, Munich and Paris have continuous availability to the integrated applications that will help their firm service their clients, manage their operations, and maximize their profitability.

Critically in the event of any kind of interruption to normal operations, Aderant should be available with no visible disruptions to users. A huge benefit for IT also emerged in that upgrades or software patches can now be done during work hours without change control as the server(s) that needed upgrading could simply be manually failed over with no interruption to users, whilst the work was being carried out.

Tim Hyman, IT Director at Taylor Wessing said “A practice management system lies at the heart of any law firm's business operation but for us at Taylor Wessing, Aderant also represents a significant step forward in terms of European integration. For the first time all offices will be served by the same practice management system which due to improved access to critical financial information will give senior management a holistic view of the business, ultimately allowing us to better serve our clients. It is essential therefore that a system as critical as this which has to be available at all times and across many time zones has a robust and proven failover facility”.

For over 20 years Avanquest has delivered 6,000 enterprise solutions for fax, unified messaging, conferencing, disaster, high availability, business continuity and SMS, including over 100 legal organisations.
