A group of Texas Engineering Extension Service employees recently returned from two weeks at Texas A&M University-Qatar (TAMUQ), where they conducted crisis management training and a tabletop exercise for TAMUQ crisis managers.

The team from TEEX’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center has been working with TAMUQ for the past year to develop a Crisis Contingency Plan. The emergency action plan would be utilized in response to an incident in Qatar that may require protection of TAMU faculty and staff.

During the first week, John Guido, Scott Terry and Byron Sage conducted seven training sessions for the TAMUQ faculty, staff and the Crisis Management Team. They were joined by Doug Rapé to direct the two-day exercise during the second week. Based upon the training and exercise experience, the Crisis Contingency Plan will now be finalized and provided to TAMUQ.

TAMUQ Dean Michael Kemp expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by TEEX in enabling TAMUQ to be better prepared to manage an emergency situation.
